An important part of our mission is to bring dental care to patients who can not come to a clinic.

Geriatric Dental Group's field programs serve patients in private homes, hospitals and long-term care settings by utilizing portable equipment. These programs provide emergency and basic dental services to hundreds of patients each year. Preventative dentistry is emphasized urging patients to comply with a recall schedule for timely cleanings and examinations.

Geriatric Dental Group provides training in the unique problems of geriatric and handicapped patients. Proper dental care is promoted through:

* Periodic free screenings conducted in senior group settings.

* In-service training for staffs in long-term care facilities. Oral hygiene standards and their relationships to dental care and disease are stressed and supported.

* Training of students in social geriatrics, dental hygiene, dental assisting and students from the OHSU School of Dentistry. Short-term, hands-on experience is provided in the care of special needs patients.
